In Private mode, supported processing runs on-device. Your local library and search index remain on your Mac.
Feature availability depends on the local models and capabilities configured in the app.
Interactive explanation of data paths. These controls do not change your app settings.
A local library is the starting point. A connected action has its own data path.
Your saved library and local search index live on your Mac. Local retrieval uses that index.
On-devicePrivate mode uses supported local processing. Connected mode sends the content needed for the request to a hosted model.
Mode-dependentAn answer can use relevant project memories. When you use a connected model, the context included in that request leaves your Mac.
Request contextLocal MCP and cloud context sharing have different paths. Enabling cloud sharing sends project-context data to the cloud service so connected clients can use it.
When connectedChoose which supported sources to connect. Their permissions determine what Stilou can access; disconnect sources you no longer need.
Your connectionsCapture follows your recording and calendar settings, which can include automatic capture. Review those settings and the selected processing mode before working with client material.
Your settingsUse the controls in Stilou to decide what is captured, connected and processed.
Use the bar’s capture control when you want Stilou to stop collecting from enabled capture sources.
CAPTURE CONTROLSReview the app’s per-source switches and connection permissions. Turn on what your work needs.
SOURCE SETTINGSThe app’s outbound model-request count helps make connected processing visible. It is a model-request indicator, not a full network audit.
OUTBOUND MODEL REQUESTSYour library and local index live on your Mac. Connected AI requests and enabled cloud context sharing send data outside the device. Review the mode and connection you are using.
Availability depends on the feature and configured local models. Features that need an external service require that connection.
No. A local MCP connection accesses the local service. Cloud context sharing makes project-context data available through a cloud endpoint. Review connection settings before enabling it.
Review your client’s requirements alongside the mode, sources and providers you plan to use. Contact us about your specific data-handling requirements before connecting sensitive material.
